The Subtle Art of Political IncorrectHood

Hopefully if you’re reading this you’ll have long since have realised that the world you thought you lived in is really an intricately weaved web of fictions, falsehood and bullshit, so surely one can’t just sit idly by as his contemporaries express their uninformed and incorrect opinions. What is one to do?

So, you know you’re intelligent, you have moments where you exhibit the gift of the gab, where your thoughts and your speech are in complete congruence. But as is typical for those who think for themselves, we fight from a disadvantaged positioned. Our fight is noble, but we lack the high ground of the culturally assumed “correct thoughts”. We wage total war against newspeak in our daily lives, and with each little win we shift the Overton window (the window of perceived acceptable discourse).

But its hard! An actual thinker such as yourself, may have to speak up in those times when you know the end result of what is being promoted is dastardly and rotten. And, dare I say, you have the worst of all things in todays drab and lifeless society — unpalatable opinions…

So, how can you win over the great unwashed, or at least, come out the other side of an interaction both physically and emotionally unscathed?

The aim is develop an eloquence rarely found in today’s monstrously dry discourse. It could be described as an acute propensity for verbal fencing. A wit rapier sharp, you lean in for a prod and your opponents argument is torn to ribbons and you leave him naked and exposed, his buttocks chapped by the wind of your effort, as his proverbial Lamés whippoorwills around your sabre.

It is useful to remember Oscar Wilde’s charming but chilling quote “If you want to tell people the truth, you’d better make them laugh or they’ll kill you”

Make it a game, dancing in this playful state where those who would condemn can’t pin you down but you can run circles around their lies.

Basically, that was a fancy way of saying, how do I persuade someone of my view when I know they are programmed to think i’m not just wrong, but EVIL for thinking it.
